Driving lessons in Burnley

The DSA (Driving Standards Agency) official guide to learning to drive states;

“Those who pass their driving test have had on average 45 hours of professional tuition combined with 22 hours of private practice”

This means that 45 hours is an average figure and you may need more or indeed less hours depending on the circumstances.

One of the best ways to keep the lessons required to pass your test to a minimum is to ensure that you have regular lessons, for example twice weekly or even once weekly.

The lesson length can also affect how many hours you require, personally I would recommend the two hour lesson option at least once or twice a week. Obviously this is not going to be ideal for everyone. This is why I have a wide range of lesson options available to suit your individual needs.

I will tailor the subjects that need to be covered to suit you as an individual and to make sure you are at the required standard for taking the test. You can rest assured that my overall aim is to teach you safe driving for life and get you your driving licence as quickly as is suitable for you. I will also supply you with a government supplied training record so you will always know where you are up too. So for the best driving lessons in Burnley see my contact page

Practical test

From October the 4th 2010 the practical test is changing, it will now include something called independant driving, for a 10 minuit section of the test you will be asked to drive independantly either following a brief list of instructions or following roads signs or a combination of both. Please note that instead of having to do two manouervers on the test you will now only be asked to do one as well as potentially an emergency stop. "CLICK ME" To watch a short video from youtube explaning the changes.

Theory test

The theory test consists of 50 multiple choice questions followed by a hazard perception test.

I would advise that pupils begin to revise for their theory test before their driving lessons begin. The reason for this is you cannot book your practical test until you have successfully completed you're theory test. The waiting times for theory tests can be as long as three weeks and sometimes more so if you’re looking to get your licence as soon as possible the theory test needs to be done and dusted so to speak. Follow this link to book your theory test. Practical test waiting times are often in excess of five weeks so if you couple this with you're theory test waiting times, that’s eight weeks wait straight away. I often get pupils who delay in completing their theory test and in all honesty it increases the overall time it takes to get your licence.

Here is a link to what is in my opinion the best revision material for the theory test. Please also note the test has changed recently so the revision DVD/CDROM's that are before 2007 are now out of date.
